Handout</div>MANILA — SM Prime Holdings Inc. on Thursday unveiled its new P7-billion mega-arena in Cebu, betting on a post-pandemic tourism and entertainment boom in the central Visayas region.The 25,000-capacity SM Seaside Cebu Arena, spanning seven hectares of gross floor area, was introduced to corporate partners ahead of its official entertainment launch on Saturday, SM Prime said. Designed by global architecture firm Arquitectonica, the wave-shaped glass venue is poised to become the largest indoor arena in the central and southern Philippines, the company said.The facility marks a major expansion of SM Prime’s South Road Properties (SRP) estate, linking directly to a massive mall, a convention center, and two hotels.“This arena is part of our long-term vision for Cebu. By creating a world-class platform for live entertainment and large-scale gatherings within SRP, we give local and foreign tourists another reason to visit and stay longer,” SM Prime President Jeffrey Lim said during the trade launch. “More importantly, this investment will generate economic opportunities for local entrepreneurs and nearby communities.”The high-tech venue features 30 luxury premier suites and a massive center-hung display for sports and concerts. It aims to position Cebu as a vital stop on international touring circuits, capturing a market that usually requires travel to Manila.The arena will open its major events calendar on July 11 with the BINI Signals World Tour, followed by acts including LANY and Hillsong Worship, SM Prime said.“Cebu has long been one of the country’s most dynamic markets. With this arena, we can bring more Filipino and international acts to the Visayas and strengthen the region’s place in the live entertainment circuit,” Lim added.Cebu&#x27;s new state-of-the-art arena will also <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/basketball/2026/7/9/sm-seaside-cebu-arena-unveiled-as-venue-for-2027-fiba-women-s-asia-cup-0151" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">host the 2027 FIBA Women&#x27;s Asia Cup </a>in July next year.SM Prime had earlier said that the Cebu arena would be <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/2/24/sm-seaside-cebu-arena-to-open-in-june-will-be-bigger-than-moa-arena-sm-prime-1109" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">larger than the MOA Arena</a>.
