MANILA — The Visayas grid will be on Yellow and Red Alert again on July 9. The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said the power supply may fall short during the following hours: Red Alert 5 p.m.-7 p.m.Yellow Alert 3 p.m.-5 p.m. 7 p.m.-10 p.m.A Red Alert means that power outages can be expected in several areas, while a Yellow Alert means outages are likely to happen.The NGCP said available grid capacity is at 2,561MW, but peak demand may reach 2,568MW.The NGCP said Visayas&#x27; large coal plants, Therma Visayas 1 and 2, are still out. The Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC) is also still out after it shut down because of a possible boiler tube leak on Wednesday.Ten plants have been on forced outage since July, while 4 have been out since June. Seven plants have been out since May, while one has been out since March.The Red and Yellow Alerts are raised again days after the Department of Energy announced that all power grids in the country are back to normal.The DOE said it has already issued show-cause orders to various power plants that bogged down unscheduled. DOE legal officer Gab Corpus said this does not mean that owners of these plants are already guilty of forced outage and recurring capacity derating, but only that they did not submit the required annual self-assessment forms on or before the deadline.
