DBM turns over to the House of Representatives the P7.2T NEP for 2027

MANILA -- The Department of Budget and Management has turned over to the House of Representatives the 2027 National Expenditure Program, amounting to P7.2 trillion, which is 6 percent higher than this year’s national budget.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/8/10/dbm-submits-p7-2-trillion-2027-budget-to-marcos-2035" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">DBM submits P7.2-trillion 2027 budget to Marcos</a></div>Under the proposal, Basic Education received the largest budget allocation at P976 billion, or 13.55 percent of the total expenditure program, followed by Public Works at P644 billion (8.94 percent) and Health at P353.8 billion (4.91 percent).Also among the sectors proposed by the executive to receive the biggest budget allocation for next year are:Interior and Local Government – P332.5 billion (4.62 percent)Defense- P328.8 billion (4.57 percent)Transportation- P302.2 billion (4.2 percent)Agriculture- P261.7 billion (3.64 percent)Social Welfare- P241.6 billion (3.35 percent)Higher Education- P176.5 billion (2.45 percent)Judiciary- P86.3 billion (1.2 percent)House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III gave assurances the lower chamber will scrutinize the proposed 2027 national budget, and that its deliberations will be “open” and “transparent”.“Masusi nating susuriin ang bawat bahagi ng panukala. Tatanungin natin ang mga ahensiya hindi lamang kung magkano ang kanilang hinihingi, kundi kung paano ito gagamitin at kung anong konkretong bunga ang maibibigay nito sa sambayanan,” Dy said.
