Groups ask Pasig court to lift NCR wage hike injunction

MANILA - Sentro ng mga Nagkakaisa at Progresibong Manggagawa (SENTRO) and Akbayan Citizen’s Action Party (AKBAYAN) on Friday have asked the Pasig City Regional Trial Court (Pasig City-RTC) to immediately lift the writ of preliminary injunction order it issued against Wage Order No. 27 in the National Capital Region (NCR).  In a press conference, the groups condemned the Pasig City-RTC for issuing a writ of injunction, which according to them, is causing a delay in the P85 wage increase in Metro Manila. AKBAYAN National President Rafaela David said the court is sending the wrong signal to the labor sector. <div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/8/14/dole-hits-court-s-preliminary-injunction-vs-ncr-wage-hike-1523">&#x27;Hindi katanggap-tanggap&#x27;: DOLE-NCR chief hits court&#x27;s preliminary injunction vs wage hike </a> </div>“This move further delays access to much needed wage hike. Mukang ang mensahe po ng korte sa atin - hindi prayoridad ang mga manggagawa, hinostage pa ang ating suweldo,” according to David.  David said the case will be a bad precedent that might be weaponized by businesses that don’t want to give what is due to their employees. “Kapag ito po ay naging normal eh di gagawin nilang legal obstacle course parati kung tayo ay hihingi ng wage hike. Kaya kami po sa SENTRO and AKBAYAN together with the broad labor movement…we refused to accept this collaboration with big business interest. We demand that the injunction be lifted, we demand for the immediate implementation of the P85 wage hike,” said David. SENTRO Secretary General Joshua Mata echoed this and said the court is seemingly in favor of the interests of the businessmen. “Disgusting, yun po ang aming collective na sentimyento ngisang judge sa Pasig RTC. Message ko sa employer, somehow you have a reprieve, huwag ‘nyong gastahin yung pera nyo,” Ortiz-Luiz Jr., told ABS-CBN News.  Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) spokesperson Carlos Miguel Oñate said the Office of the Solicitor General (SolGen) should intervene in the case and should support the motions to intervene of labor groups before the Pasig Court.“Kami’y nananawagan sa Office of the Solicitor General na agad-agad mag-file ng motion to dissolve yang writ for preliminary injunction ng Pasig RTC.
