MANILA—The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has extended the deadline for tax filing, payment, and submission to August 18, 2026, granting relief to taxpayers affected by the southwest monsoon (Habagat) and recent technical issues with the eBIRForms system.Under Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) No. 95-2026, the new deadline covers obligations originally due from August 10 to 16. This provides an additional day of extension for taxpayers in Habagat-affected areas previously covered by RMC No. 89-2026, whose deadlines were initially moved to August 17. The agency said the extension now includes those unable to file due to the technical unavailability of the eBIRForms Offline Package, ensuring they face no corresponding penalties.“We recognize the difficulties faced by taxpayers affected by the rains, as well as those who are unable to comply because of the technical issues with eBIRForms. We are giving them additional time to complete their tax obligations without penalty,” Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza said.To facilitate the extension, the BIR issued a Bank Bulletin directing Authorized Agent Banks to accept covered returns and payments until the new deadline without imposing late fees. Covered transactions include income tax, withholding tax returns, and ONETT transactions. However, the agency clarified that eFPS-mandated taxpayers outside the Habagat-affected zones are excluded and must file as usual.“We remind covered taxpayers to complete their filing and payment requirements by August 18. At the same time, we assure taxpayers that when circumstances beyond their control make compliance difficult, the BIR will continue to respond reasonably and give them a fair opportunity to comply,” Mendoza said.
