MANILA — Cash remittances from overseas Filipinos reached $3.04 billion in June, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said Monday.The BSP said this is 1.7 percent higher than the $2.99 billion seen in the same month last year, and is the highest figure so far in the first half of the year.The BSP said most of the remittances came from the United States, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia. Personal remittances, meanwhile, also went up by 1.8 percent to $3.39 billion in June, higher than the $3.33 billion seen in the same month last year.Personal remittances include cash sent through banks and informal channels and remittances sent in kind.Money sent home by Filipinos working abroad is one of the Philippine economy’s most vital lifelines. Remittances power domestic consumption and drive economic growth.Household consumption grew by 2.8 percent in the <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/8/7/gdp-growth-further-skids-to-2-3-percent-in-second-quarter-1006" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">second quarter of 2026</a>, slower than the 5.2 percent growth in the second quarter of 2025, the Philippine Statistics Authority said.<div> <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2026/7/15/cash-remittances-up-to-2-7-billion-in-may-2300" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Cash remittances up to $2.7 billion in May</a></div>
