<p>MANILA -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has flagged 25 gas stations in the first three days of its fuel marking drive in Luzon.</p><p>Fuel marking is the process by which the government adds a chemical identifier to gasoline, kerosene, or diesel to check if fuel companies or gas stations have paid the correct taxes. </p><p>The BIR said it has inventoried the affected fuel and sealed the gas pumps pending confirmatory testing.</p><p>Once it is confirmed that fuel distributors have not paid the correct taxes, the BIR will determine the applicable taxes and penalties and collect them.</p><p>Once these taxes are paid, distributors can request corrective marking of the affected petroleum products. After this, the gas pumps may be unsealed.</p><p>The BIR said 65 gas stations have so far been tested in its large-scale fuel marking drive. The agency said the operations &quot;will continue for several weeks.&quot;</p><p>“This is not a one-time operation.
