Jekki Pascual, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA — The Social Security System (SSS) issued violation notices to more than 400 employers or establishments in Metro Manila that failed to remit workers&#x27; monthly contributions to the agency.The SSS National Capital Region conducted its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) operations in various parts of the metro. The over 400 delinquent employers cover 3,484 employees with a total delinquency of P145.3 million. One of the RACE operations was conducted by the SSS Diliman Branch in Quezon City. It issued notices to 10 employers, including a bakeshop, a religious shop, a law firm, and a starch manufacturer, among others. The total delinquency was about P4.2 million.SSS Senior Vice President Benjamin Dolindo Jr. said the operations are just meant to remind employers whom they treat as partners. He added that he understands that some companies may have financial difficulties, but it is important to still remit the contributions of workers.“We have a crisis na hinaharap ngayon na until now mataas pa rin ang presyo ng gasolina. Naintindihan namin yun, but dapat intindihin natin na kailangan pa rin… merong batas na dapat sundin,” Dolindo said.But officials noted that businesses can still meet with them so they can find a win-win solution.“We still give the employers, as our partners din, countless chances to dispute, or reconcile and to settle the delinquency,” said Louella Apilado, Acting Head of the SSS NCR North Legal Department.Dolindo added, &quot;Meron kami mga installment program ibinibigay sa kanila wherein meron din kaming ongoing condonation kung talagang they are qualified, they can apply for that.”Officials hope more companies will comply because failure to remit the contributions will not only incur penalties, but--more importantly-- affect employees who may not be able to get their SSS benefits.“Apektado po talaga yung benepisyo ng mga empleyado natin, mga manggagawa katulad ng sickness, pag-file ng loan. Pag hindi updated sa contribution, hindi rin po ma-avail ng mga miyembro ang tamang benepisyo,” he added. SSS said they will continue to conduct the RACE operations to ensure that employers comply with their obligations under the Social Security Act of 2018.
