Arthur Fuentes, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA  — Vietnamese EV maker VinFast is betting big on its electric scooters as it aims to expand its showrooms and battery-swapping stations across the country. During the formal launch of its three e-scooter models, VinFast announced that it already had 21 showrooms exclusively set up for its two-wheeled EVs. Within the year, the company aims to hit a hundred showrooms across the Philippines, according to Niño Fabros, VinFast’s CEO for its e-scooter business in the Philippines.Fabros said the company is aiming to take a slice not just of the nascent e-scooter market but of the whole motorcycle market. He said that in its home turf of Vietnam, which is one of the biggest motorcycle markets in Southeast Asia, the company is already number 1 in terms of e-scooter sales volumes, and number 2 in terms of overall motorcycle market share.“In Vietnam, the future is already becoming a reality. In 2025, VinFast delivered more than 407,000 electric motorcycles, achieved over 550 percent growth versus last year, and expanded to more than 650 3S showrooms across Vietnam,” Fabros said. He hopes the brand will be able to duplicate its success in Vietnam here in the Philippines. Fabros noted that established Japanese motorcycle brands took decades to establish hundreds of 3S (sales, spare parts, service) showrooms across the country. VinFast meanwhile is looking to roll out a hundred 3S showrooms in just a year. The company is also looking to forge partnerships with existing dealer networks to maximize the reach of its products.“Basically, the fastest way to convert ICE is through dealership. Because most of the Filipino consumers here, they know already about this dealership. So we don&#x27;t want to reinvent the wheel here,” Fabros said. Motorcycle owners are accustomed to doing just quick, short trips to gas stations to gas up. Electric car owners may be willing to park their cars at charging stations for half an hour, but motorcycle owners, especially delivery and motor-taxi riders may not be willing to wait that long. “The battery swapping replaces a battery that takes out just one minute, and makes an electric motorcycle even more convenient for your daily use,” said Vo Thi Cam Tu, CEO of VinFast E-Scooters and E-Bikes, International Markets.While VinFast’s e-scooters can be charged at home with the included charger, being able to swap fully charged batteries outside would be a game-changer for riders who may have range anxiety for e-scooters. VinFast said it is looking to build 30,000 battery-swapping stations across the Philippines. But rolling out an EV infrastructure of this scale comes with its own complexities. Globe tried it with Gogoro, but had to scale back its investment in this business. “What we can offer here is truly a commitment,” said Fabros. He did not elaborate on the timeline for delivering all of these stations, but if they can make good on their promise, it can move more people to buy e-scooters instead of gasoline-powered ones.
