The 8,000 MegaWatt (MW)-line is more than capable of transmitting the 2,086MW power from new plants in the area.<em> Niño Jesus Orbeta, PPA pool</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The Visayas and Mindanao power grids will be on Red and Yellow Alerts on Wednesday, September 2.</p><p>The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said the schedule is as follows:</p><div><br/></div><p><strong><u>VISAYAS GRID<br/></u>Red Alert</strong><br/>3 p.m.- 4 p.m.<br/>5 p.m.- 9 p.m.</p><p><strong>Yellow Alert</strong><br/>1 p.m. - 3 p.m.<br/>4 p.m. - 5 p.m.<br/>9 p.m. - 10 p.m.</p><div><br/></div><p><strong><u>MINDANAO GRID<br/></u>Yellow Alert</strong><br/>1 p.m. - 4 p.m.<br/>5 p.m. - 8 p.m.</p><div><br/></div><p>The NGCP said the Visayas grid will be on Red and Yellow Alerts because two of its large coal-powered plants, Therma Visayas Inc. 1 and Panay Energy Development Corporation 3, are out. There are also lower power imports from Mindanao.</p><p>Meanwhile, in Mindanao, its large coal plants--the GNPower Kauswagan 1 and 2 and Therma South 2--are also out.</p><p>A red alert status means power outages can be expected as power supply is insufficient to meet consumer demand and the transmission grid’s regulatory requirements. A yellow alert, meanwhile, means power outages are likely as plants are producing less than the grid&#x27;s contingency requirement.</p><p>In Visayas, 4 plants have been out since September, while 6 plants have been out since August. One plant has been out since July. Two have been out since June, and 7 have been out since May.</p><p>Meanwhile, in Mindanao, 2 plants have been on forced outage since September. Fourteen plants have been out since August, while 4 plants have been out since July. One plant has been out since June, while 2 plants have been out since January.</p><div><br/></div><div>      </div>
