MANILA &mdash; The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is opening 7,500 ride-hailing slots in Metro Manila exclusively for electric vehicles (EVs).In a statement, the LTFRB said the ride-hailing slots in Metro Manila will be exclusively for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and battery electric vehicles.The LTFRB has also opened TNVS slots for EVs in the Ilocos and Bicol Regions. In the Ilocos Region, half of the 650 slots opened for TNVS are for electric vehicles.&nbsp;In Bicol, half of the 600 TNVS slots are for EVs as well.&nbsp;Acting LTFRB Chairman Greg Pua Jr. said this is a step toward the government&#39;s goal of having half of all the vehicles on the road to be electric vehicles by 2040.&ldquo;We in the LTFRB are sensitive to the request and demand from the people and the opening of the slots is also in support of the government&rsquo;s aggressive economic push across the country,&rdquo; he said.<div> </div><div>&#39;UNDAS&#39; PERMITS </div>Meanwhile, the LTFRB also said it will start accepting applications for special permits for the All Saints&rsquo; and All Souls&rsquo; holidays in November.The agency said it will start accepting applications from September 21 to October 2. The special permits are valid from October 28 to November 6.The LTFRB said the requirements are as follows:&bull; Official receipt/certificate of registration (OR/CR) of the unit &bull; Valid personal passenger accident insurance (PPAI) &bull; For a juridical entity, a board resolution and/or secretary&#39;s certificate authorizing the application for a special permit and designating the authorized representative/s to file the petition.The agency said the conditions for application and approval for special permits are the following:&bull; Only 50 percent of the total authorized units per operator per authorized route is allowed &bull; Units applied should not be more than 14 years old from the date of manufacture &bull; applicants must indicate the specific address of the terminals at both ends of the applied route.
