Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News/File</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The earthquakes in recent days are unrelated to each other, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said, adding nobody can predict earthquakes despite claims and rumors on social media.</p><p>“Walang koneksyon sa isa’t isa, may kanya-kanya silang fault system,” Johnlery Deximo, a senior science research specialist at Phivolcs said.</p><p>(They are not connected to each other. Pero, yung mga kumakalat po na magkakaroon ng isang malawakang o malakas na mga pagyanig, nagpapalabas ng mga prediction na magkakaroon ng magnitude 8 or 9 earthquake ay wala pong katotohanan,” Deximo said.</p><p>(Our trenches, particularly the Philippine Trench, are active.
