(PhilHealth) ID is free of charge and non-expiring.</p><p>It also comes with various benefits.</p><p>The PhilHealth ID serves as proof of identification and that an individual is a member of the National Health Insurance Program, which should include every Filipino in line with the Universal Healthcare Act.</p><p>The document is also a standard requirement for job applicants, making it a must-have for fresh graduates.</p><p>PhilHealth NCR (National Capital Region) Public Affairs chief Mon Acoba encouraged every individual to register for the insurance program, as it strives to help Filipinos through preventive care.</p><p>“Ang PhilHealth kasi naaalala lang kami kung kailan nagkasakit ‘no, [pero] gusto natin na proactive na yung ating mga members na hindi kailangan magkasakit para maka-avail,” Acoba told ABS-CBN News.</p><p>(PhilHealth is only remembered when people get sick, but we want our members to be proactive, in that they don’t have to be sick to avail.)</p><p>He added that, apart from hospitalization, PhilHealth now also covers check-ups, maintenance, and essential medicine through its Yaman ng Kalusugan program (YAKAP).</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/health-science/2025/12/3/majority-of-filipino-families-struggle-to-pay-hospital-bills-study-1931">Majority of Filipino families struggle to pay hospital bills — study</a></div><div><br/></div><div><strong>PROCESS</strong></div><p>Applicants must first register as members on the website memberinquiry.philhealth.gov.ph, the eGov App, or at the nearest PhilHealth office, where they will fill out the PhilHealth Member Registration Form to obtain their PhilHealth Identification Number (PIN).</p><p>On the form, they will input their personal information and other details, such as proof of income and their dependents, which can include parents aged 60 and above, their spouse, or unemployed children under 21.</p><p>A Philippine Statistics Authority-approved birth certificate must also be submitted by applicants upon registration, while foreign nationals are required to upload their Alien passport or Alien Registration Certificate Identity Card, and married individuals their marriage certificate.</p><p>Those still in the tertiary education do not have to provide an enrollment registration form or Certificate of Matriculation, as any individual above the age of 21 is already eligible to be a direct contributor.</p><p>According to Acoba, those who cannot afford healthcare but are not yet PhilHealth members would be assisted in registering by representatives of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, who will also determine whether the individual qualifies as an indirect contributor.</p><p>In acquiring the PhilHealth ID, prepare two 1x1 ID pictures, birth certificate, a valid government-issued ID, and the completed registration form.</p><p>Visit the nearest PhilHealth Express Outlet or office to obtain a request form. Submit the filled-out request form along with the other required documents to claim your ID and member data record.</p><p>The ID or PIN and member data record are typically submitted to PhilHealth-accredited clinics or health institutions where a member wishes to avail benefits.</p><p>While the registration and issuance of the ID is free, one’s monthly payment can vary depending on the two types of membership in the insurance program.</p><p>Direct contributors have to pay a premium rate equivalent to 5 percent of their salary, while indirect contributors or indigents are funded by the government.</p><p>Members also have the option of purchasing the PVC-type health insurance card for P90.</p><p>Acoba clarified that one’s contribution has “no bearing” on their health coverage, noting that benefit packages are standardized.</p><p>“No bearing kung how much yung premium contribution na binabayaran mo, kasi yung benefit packages natin pantay-pantay po yan,” he said.</p><p>“Ito yung kagandahan sa universal healthcare.
