<p>MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. visited  Friday the construction of the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) Legacy Building in Quezon City which is slated to become the biggest dialysis center in Southeast Asia.</p><p>Marcos was accompanied by Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon and Health Secretary Ted Herbosa during the inspection. </p><div style="text-align:center"><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=314&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F890635967425418%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=560&amp;t=0" width="560" height="314" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe><br/></div><p>The president emphasized the need to improve and expand services for chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients in the country, noting that over 11 percent of Filipinos suffer from the disease.</p><p>“Ito kasi ay malaki ang pangangailangan sa ating populasyon dahil ang kanilang statistics, over 11 percent ng mga Pilipino ay may chronic kidney disease (CKD) kaya’t kailangang pagtibayin natin at palawakin natin ang ating serbisyo para sa pag-treat ng CKD at ito ay magiging, pagkatapos nito, ay ito ang magiging pinakamalaking dialysis center sa Southeast Asia,” he said.</p><div style="text-align:center"><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=315&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F1525861412337207%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=560&amp;t=0" width="560" height="315" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe><br/></div><div><br/></div><p>Dizon said the facility is expected to be completed by December 2027 which is earlier than the original March 2028 target.</p><p>The 13-storey building will house around 200 advanced dialysis machines and will be operational early 2028.</p><p>The chief executive said they allocated full funding for the project to expedite its construction.</p><p>“Imbis na dating nangyayari kasi tingi-tingi ang pagbigay ng pondo kaya hindi pwedeng madaliin. Kaya ang ginawa natin pinalitan natin ang sistema, buo kaagad ang pondo para habang ginagawa rito sa mga lower floor, hindi pa tapos ang finishing, ay sinimulan na ‘yung upper floor,” Marcos said. </p><p>The president also took note of the expanded PhilHealth benefits for chronic kidney disease patients such as the additional number of sessions from 90 to 156 and increased hemodialysis benefit package from P4,000 to P6,350 per session.</p><p>He also mentioned the expanded Z benefit package for peritoneal dialysis from up to P389,640 - P500,140 annually for adults and from P510,000 - P1.2 million for pediatric patients. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO:</strong></div><div style="text-align:center"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-AKQLr0FO58?si=STs9TE604ra3HAgU" title="YouTube video player" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div>
