<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/173269151125420241126-vpsd-presson-MT-6.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner" spellcheck="false" style="text-align:left">Vice President Sara Duterte addresses the media at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City on November 26, 2024. <em>Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span>MANILA — Many of the members of the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG) will be temporarily replaced with new personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), AFP chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. said on Wednesday.</div><p>In a speech before military leaders during the AFP Leadership Summit at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City, Brawner said they received a subpoena from the PNP calling members of the VPSPG to be investigated.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2024/11/27/qc-police-file-assault-and-other-raps-vs-duterte-security-detail-official-1332">Police file assault and other raps vs Duterte, security detail official</a></div><p>“Minabuti natin na sundin ang subpoena na iyon so that matugunan nila ang imbestigasyon,” the military chief said.</p><p>“Ang gagawin natin, we are going to temporarily replace them with a contingent from the PNP and the AFP,” he added.</p><p>Brawner stressed that the security of Vice President Sara Duterte is of primary concern to the AFP.</p><p>“Dahil kung may mangyari sa vice president, maaaring ito ang simula ng kaguluhan because of yung salaysay na rin niya na kung may mangyari sa kanya, meron siyang actions na gagawin against the President, First Lady and House Speaker,” Brawner explained.</p><p>The VPSPG currently has around 350 members. Kasama yung commander because nga kasama siya sa subpoena.”</p><p>Brawner also denied reports that he will take over the vice president’s security group.</p><p>“Hindi po totoo na I will take over the VPSPG. It is still under the Presidential Security Command. Hindi ko po kayang gawin yun dahil marami po tayong iniisip na iba pang security issues ng ating bansa,” he said.</p><div><strong>BRAWNER ON EX-PRRD’S CALL FOR MILITARY ACTION: ‘THAT IS NOT OUR JOB’</strong></div><p>Meanwhile, Brawner rejected calls of former president Rodrigo Duterte for the military to intervene and “correct” the “fractured governance” of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.</p><p>&quot;May panawagan na mag-intervene ang AFP sa nangyayari sa ating politika sa bayan. Hindi natin trabaho iyon.
