Iniingatan namin na magkamali kami. Kailangan talagang tama,” Santiago said.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/1/13/nbi-concludes-probe-into-sara-duterte-s-slay-threat-vs-marcos-1617">READ: NBI concludes probe into Sara Duterte&#x27;s slay threat vs Marcos</a></div><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/1/14/remulla-says-iglesia-rally-has-no-effect-on-nbi-probe-on-vp-sara-duterte-1327">READ: Iglesia rally has no effect on NBI probe on Sara Duterte’s slay threat -- Remulla</a></div><p>Santiago stressed that they took into account the Department of Justice&#x27;s (DOJ) new rules on preliminary investigations and inquest proceedings.</p><p>He cited that there should be a “reasonable certainty of conviction” (as opposed to the traditional “probable cause” standard).</p><p>“Kaya pinag aaralan namin ng mabuti at kapagka-nakita ng ating mga prosecutor there sa DOJ na hindi namin ma-ascertain na magkakaroon ng conviction, maaaring i-dismiss ang kaso o ibalik sa amin para pag-aralan ulit,” he said.</p><p>“Kaya hindi kami basta-basta na sampa lang ng sampa ng kaso at talagang ingat na ingat po kami,” he added.</p><p>The NBI will submit all gathered evidence, testimonies, and findings to the DOJ, where the decision to file charges will be left to the prosecutors.</p>
