(MOTLI)</div>MANILA — Six young mathematicians from Sarrat National High School bagged two gold medals and four other exemplary commendations at the World International Mathematical Olympiad (WIMO) 2024 in Shenzhen, China from January 3 to 6.Allen Iver Barroga, competing in the secondary 2 category, showcased exceptional skills by bagging the world championship, while Brian Jansen Vallejo and Natalie Margaret Balisacan earned bronze medals each for the same category.Zyrene Angelica Dulluog, competing in the secondary 3 category, brought home the silver medal.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/othersports/2025/1/18/young-pinay-chess-player-takes-2nd-place-in-prague-tournament-1813">Young Pinay chess player takes 2nd place in Prague tournament</a></div>Ma. Cassandra Reich Duque not only secured the top spot but also became the first Filipino student to receive a full scholarship at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen for her tertiary education. This institution ranked 36th among Ivy League schools worldwide.The graduating mathlete gained the world championship in the senior secondary category while Jushiem Barroga for the same category earned a merit award.Their coaches were Michael Malvar, Edmund Respicio and Jenifer Balisacan.&quot;These remarkable achievements would not have been possible without the generous support of those who stood behind our journey,&quot; Malvar said in a social media post.In a social media post on January 7, the Math Olympiads Training League Inc. (MOTLI) shared that Team Philippines emerged as the overall champion in the recently concluded WIMO 2024 finals bagging 10 gold medals, 10 silver medals, and 20 bronze medals.&quot;This outstanding accomplishment is a testament to the nation&#x27;s longstanding dedication in fostering excellence in the field of mathematics,&quot; MOTLI said on social media.Jenylle Nyka Lee from Chiang Kai Shek College and Carsten Edmund Ang from the Chinese International School, both from Metro Manila, also bagged gold medals and world championships.WIMO 2024 was participated by mathletes from more than 15 countries where 67 representatives were from the Philippines.
