<p>MANILA — The Filipino tourist who was hit by a train after posing for a photo at a famous tourist destination in Taiwan is now &quot;out of danger,&quot; the Philippine government&#x27;s representative there said.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/6/4/taiwan-s-visa-free-entry-for-filipinos-to-remain-until-july-2025-1841">Taiwan&#x27;s visa-free entry for Filipinos to remain until July 2025</a></div><p>Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) chairperson Cheloy Garafil said the Filipino tourist still has to go through more surgery and treatment.</p><p>“Pero itong spine surgery kasi pinaka-major niya na ginawa and ito ‘yung last na ginawa sa kanya and sabi naman sa’min according to the report she’s out of danger,” Garafil said in an interview with Teleradyo Serbisyo Thursday.</p><p>(The spine surgery was a major procedure and we have been told that she&#x27;s out of danger)</p><p>She said the tourist will need around two weeks in the hospital to recover from her injuries.</p><p>The Filipino tourist, who Garafil said had requested that her identity be kept private, was reportedly posing for a photo along the railway at the Shifen Old Street when she was hit by an approaching train.</p><p>“Mismong train station kasi ito so nasa tracks ‘yung pagpapalipad ng lantern. Pero pag dumating ‘yung tren, siyempre lahat ng tao, tumatabi... Pero malas lang talaga niya na pagdaan nung tren, nahagip siya kasi medyo tinaas niya ‘yung kamay eh,” Garafil explained.</p><p>(It was at the train station, and you release the lanterns by the tracks. Very attentive nga, bilib na bilib nga kami dito sa kanyang travel agency na nag-arrange ng tour for them kasi nakatutok sila sa kanya,” she added.</p><p>(She was brought to the hospital immediately after the accident. They were very attentive.
