Paolo Duterte for threatening to get back at those responsible for the arrest and detention of his father, saying that the Philippines adheres to the rule of law and is “not part of a barbaric world.”</p><p>The Palace gave the statement when asked to give a comment on Rep. Duterte’s earlier pronouncement that he would “make sure that [they] will pay for this crime that you have committed.”</p><p>“Hindi po dapat tayo mabuhay sa mga pagbabanta. Tayo po ay nasa sinasabing civilized society,” Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro told Palace reporters.</p><p>“Wala po tayo sa isang barbaric world so dapat po tayong tumugon kung ano po ang rule of law at hindi po tayo dapat natatakot or lagi na lamang nabubuhay sa pananakot,” she said.</p><p>But Castro said that the Marcos Jr. administration had nothing to do with the former President’s legal proceedings at the International Criminal Court (ICC), where he was facing cases of crimes against humanity.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/10/7/rep-duterte-sees-sense-in-remulla-s-appointment-to-ombudsman-post-1754">Rep. Duterte sees &#x27;sense&#x27; in Remulla’s appointment to Ombudsman post</a></div><p>“Uulitin po natin na ang pamahalaang Marcos Jr. ay hindi po kasama sa kasong kinakaharap po ngayon ni dating Pangulong Duterte,” the Palace official said.</p><p>“So, kung anuman po ang naging desisyon ng ICC, hayaan na lang po natin ang mga abogado nila at ang mga parties diyan na sila po ang gumawa ng aksyon,” she said.</p><p>Last week, the ICC <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/10/10/icc-rejects-duterte-s-interim-release-plea-1714">rejected </a>Duterte’s petition for release from detention while his case was still pending before the international tribunal. The court said the former President’s continued detention was necessary to “ensure his appearance at trial, prevent him from obstructing the investigation or the proceedings, and to stop potential commission of further crimes.”</p><p>Meanwhile, Malacañang said that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. does not fear flying over to Davao, Duterte’s bailiwick, to distribute aid for those affected by twin earthquakes.</p><p>“Ang mga Dabawenyos po mababait na kababayan natin yan.
