Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>MANILA<strong> (UPDATED)</strong> — Vice President Sara Duterte on Thursday expressed confidence that she will not be linked in the flood control fiasco.</p><p>This, as she maintained that her office, and even the Department of Education during her stint as secretary, had no flood control projects.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/10/16/dpwh-to-start-probe-into-firm-linked-to-sen-bong-go-s-family-its-ties-to-discayas-1123">DPWH starts probe into firm linked to Sen. Bong Go&#x27;s family, its ties to Discayas</a></div><p>“Sigurado ako hindi aabot sakin ang flood control scandal kasi unang-una, wala namang flood controls project sa OVP at sa Department of Education,” she said in a forum in Quezon City.</p><p>(I am sure that the flood control scandal will not reach me because, first of all, the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education do not have flood control projects)</p><p>She said former Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan and the contractors that government is investigating would be able to say she had no projects with the Department of Public Works and Highways.</p><p>She also noted that there were no insertions in the Office of the Vice President’s budget.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>&#x27;THEY WILL TRY TO IMPLICATE US&#x27;</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>When asked to comment on the statements of Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla and Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon on the possible ties of Sen. Bong Go with government contractors Sarah and Curlee Discaya, she said said there could be attempts to link her in the issue.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/10/14/bato-on-flood-control-probe-kalokohan-kapag-papunta-sa-duterte-1411"><strong>Bato on direction of flood control probe: &#x27;Kalokohan kapag papunta sa Duterte&#x27;</strong></a></div><p>She said there may be attempts to link her to the scandal through Go, who has been vocal about his support for former president Rodrigo Duterte.<strong></strong><br/></p><p>“Doon siguro nila gagawan ng kwento ‘yun yung part na ako, si PRRD sa gitna, at si Sen. Bong Go sa kabilang side,” she said.</p><p>(That may be how they will frame it. Me, then PRRD in the middle, then Sen. Bong Go on the other side)</p><p>She also claimed that the ongoing investigation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure would soon point to her and her father.<strong></strong></p><div><br/></div><div><strong>MARCOS OFFICE </strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Duterte also cast doubt on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr&#x27;s remark expressing confidence the ICI probe would not implicate the Office of the President.</p><p>“So, ibig sabihin siguro alam na niya kung ano ‘yung kalalabasan ng inquiry o imbestigasyon kasi wala namang ibang explanation kung bakit ang confident mo sa mangyayari bukas,” she noted.</p><p>(So that might mean he knows how the inquiry or investigation will go because there is no other explanation to be confident about what will happen next)</p><p>Marcos said Wednesday he was confident the corruption probe would not lead to his office as he has nothing to hide.</p><p>Asked why, he said:  “I know what we did or did not do.” </p><p>Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claira Castro, in a statement in Filipino in response to Duterte&#x27;s comments, said one would be confident in the face of an investigation into potential corruption if they know &quot;what they did was for the country and for self-interest like some people.&quot;</p><p>In contrast, she said, those who are guilty will constantly keep their activities secret.</p><p>“Worse, siya pang malakas manira ng gobyerno kahit wala siyang maipakitang sariling accomplishments,” she added.</p><p>(Worse, they are the ones who try to discredit the government even if they don&#x27;t have accomplishments of their own)</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>&#x27;NO DESTABILIZATION PLOT&#x27;</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Vice President Duterte said there was no destabilization threat and alleged that it was the administration that was pushing the narrative.  </p><p>“Walang nagsasabi na ‘Oust Marcos’. Ang meron lang, merong mga grupo na nagsasabi ‘resign’,&quot; she said.</p><p>(Nobody is saying &#x27;Oust Marcos&#x27;. There are only a few groups saying he should resign)</p><p>&quot;At nagtataka ako sa administrasyon bakit nila sinasabi na destabilisasyon ang pagpapahayag ng mga tao sa galit nila?
