Leila de Lima, who said that the President should &quot;demonstrate his sincerity and commitment to transparency and accountability&quot; by disclosing his SALN and encouraging his Cabinet to do the same.</p><p>&quot;Patunayan niyang iba siya sa sinundan nya na galit sa korupsyon kuno pero isinikreto lang ang SALN kasama ng protektor nyang Ombudsman. Hindi pwedeng hanggang salita lang ang paglaban sa korupsyon, yung biglang kambyo at ang dami pang kuskos-balungos sa simpleng paglalabas ng SALN,&quot; the lawmaker said in a statement. </p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/10/24/-what-is-in-a-saln-and-how-is-it-used-to-fight-corruption-1208">READ: What is in a SALN, and how is it used to fight corruption?</a></div><p>Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro stressed that Marcos Jr. is willing to release his SALN through the proper procedure laid out by the Office of the Ombudsman. </p><p>&quot;Wala naman pong pagpigil na ginagawa po ang pangulo pero meron po kasing -- nilabas naman din po ang procedure ang Ombudsman at nakikita po natin na ang ginawa naman po na procedure ng Office of the Ombudsman ay mas liberal mas madali pong maaccess ang SALN ng isang public servant,&quot; Castro said in a press briefing on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits here in Kuala Lumpur Monday, October 27.  </p><p>&quot;Kung ano po ang sinasabi ng Ombudsman, hindi po magpapapigil ang Pangulo. At kung ano po ang sinasabi ng Ombudsman, total nandun naman po &#x27;yung record ng SALN ng ating pangulo, so &#x27;yun lang po ang sasabihin ng Ombudsman,&quot; she added.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/10/26/marcos-jr-willing-to-make-saln-public-to-proper-authority-palace-1831">READ: Marcos Jr. willing to make SALN public to &#x27;proper authority&#x27; through Ombudsman procedure – Palace</a></div><p>The Palace official also noted that public access to SALN is much more &quot;liberal&quot; now than the Duterte administration. </p><p>Newly installed Ombudsman Jesus Crispin &quot;Boying&quot; Remulla reversed the restrictive policy of his predecessor, Samuel Martires, on accessing SALNs. </p><p>&quot;Still, sabi po natin, mas madaling kumuha po sa records mula sa Ombudsman unlike during the past administration,&quot; Castro said.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>&#x27;EXCUSES&#x27;</strong></div><p>The Palace&#x27;s statement comes as two Makabayan bloc lawmakers criticized their recent pronouncements regarding the release of SALNs.</p><p>Gabriela Representative Sarah Elago said Monday that there should be no more &quot;excuses,&quot; and SALNs should simply be released. Meanwhile, ACT Teachers Representative Antonio Tinio was critical of the supposed declaration of additional rules when it comes to SALN release.</p><p>&quot;Pagkatapos nung unang deklarasyon ng Malacañang na magiging available na raw sa public &#x27;yung SALN, ngayong marami palang mga mga qualification. May mga sabit pala &#x27;yan. Kung anu-ano pang rules ang ini-impose. Hindi naman ganito dati. Dati dapat nilalabas nang buo ang SALN tapos nakalagay din sa batas na kailangan available for public inspection sa opisina o tanggapan mismo ng Ombudsman ang mga SALN ng mga matataas na opisyal ng gobyerno,&quot; said Tinio.</p><p>Elago, for her part, said public officials should be &quot;proactive&quot; when it comes to their SALNs. </p><p>&quot;Hindi dapat selective pero dapat proactive na ngayon &#x27;yung mga public officials, lalong lalo na &#x27;yung mga top officials natin, ang president at vice president, pagdating sa paglalabas ng kanilang SALN sa panahon na nananawagan talaga &#x27;yung mga kababayan natin ng transparency at paglaban sa korapsyon,&quot; she said.</p><p>&quot;Tama na ang excuses. Ilabas na ang mga SALN,&quot; Elago stressed.</p><p>Tinio also reiterated their call for Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte to make their SALNs public.</p><p>Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin recently said the Palace wants control over who could access SALNs, noting these contain details &quot;that might compromise the security and safety of public officials concerned.&quot;</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/10/25/bersamin-says-there-must-be-legitimate-reasons-to-access-salns-1415">READ: Bersamin says there must be &#x27;legitimate reasons&#x27; to access SALNs</a></div><p>Tinio and Elago are two of 11 congressmen, as recorded by ABS-CBN News, who have released their SALNs.</p>
