<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/175980832557920250808-marcos-india-kapihan-NP15 (1).jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., August 8, 2025.  Noel Pabalate, PPA pool/File</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. made a case for “dedicated” public servants and said corrupt public officials were “not the face of government”, as the Philippines probed billions-worth of allegedly anomalous flood control projects. </p><p>The public should not “paint everyone in government with the same brush as these corrupt operators,” Marcos said, referring to officials who were accused of pocketing kickbacks from anti-flood programs.</p><p>“These people are not the face of government,” the President said in his podcast.</p><p>“All they are is the face of corruption. That’s all they are. They are not typical of government,” he said.</p><p>Marco earlier made public a list of all flood control projects under his administration, questioning why over P100-billion worth of projects were cornered by only a dozen contractors.</p><p>The President inspected several supposedly completed projects, but found that these infrastructures were either substandard, unfinished or missing.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/10/6/marcos-says-resignation-of-officials-linked-to-flood-control-anomalies-not-enough-1200">Marcos says resignation of officials linked to flood control anomalies ‘not enough’</a></div><p>“One of the reasons I exposed all of these is because these people are trying so hard… Most government workers would rather just do their work and serve that’s why they’re there,” Marcos said in his podcast.</p><p>“Government service is not easy. People are working hard and trying their best,” he said.</p><p>“We cannot paint everyone in government with the same brush as these corrupt operators that you see in government.”</p><p>There are government workers who “are making serious sacrifices: time away from their family, money out of their own pocket,” Marcos said.</p><p>“There are so many people in government who are very good, who are dedicated, who make sacrifices, who give everything they can to the service,” he said.</p><p>“They do this constantly every single day,” he said.</p><p>Last month, Marcos created the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to investigate all public infrastructure projects in the last decade.
