How Hwee Young, EPA/FileMANILA — China has pledged over $2.4 million in humanitarian aid to help areas affected by Typhoon Tino and Super Typhoon Uwan recover.</div>In a statement on Tuesday, the Chinese Embassy expressed its condolences to the victims of the two typhoons and announced Beijing’s assistance.&quot;In the past few days, the Philippines was stricken successively by Typhoons Tino and Uwan, suffering significant casualties and property losses. We express deep condolences to the victims and sincere sympathies to the bereaved families, the injured, and the affected communities,&quot; it said.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/11/-tino-death-toll-rises-to-232-uwan-casualties-now-25-ocd-2344">Nation &#x27;Tino&#x27; death toll rises to 232, &#x27;Uwan&#x27; casualties now 25: OCD</a></div>The embassy also mentioned that Chinese communities and businesses in the Philippines have extended help to typhoon-stricken areas.Emphasizing the friendship between the Filipino and Chinese people, the embassy said Beijing will donate $1 million in cash and 10 million RMB in kind, amounting to about $2.4 million in total.“We sincerely hope that the Filipino people in the disaster-stricken areas will recover and rebuild their homes soon,” the embassy added.The Office of Civil Defense said Tuesday night that search, rescue, and retrieval operations are still ongoing in typhoon-hit areas.The OCD added the government has assisted over 12,000 Filipinos in evacuation centers, many of whom have already returned home after their areas were declared safe.
