Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has intensified its campaign against online shopping scams and fake delivery schemes as the Christmas season drives a surge in digital transactions and parcel shipments.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/17/cicc-warns-public-about-12-scams-of-christmas-as-holiday-season-nears-1806">CICC warns public about ’12 Scams of Christmas’ as holiday season nears</a></div><p>In a statement, acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the move comes amid a noticeable spike in online fraud reports over recent weeks.</p><p>“Malaki po ang threat level ngayon. Every Christmas season tumataas talaga ang fraud cases pero this year mas aggressive ang mga scammers, lalo na online,” he stressed.</p><p>“The PNP is on alert to protect our communities from these digital and delivery-related crimes.”</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>&#x27;SCAM HOTSPOTS&#x27;</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>To counter the rise in scams, Nartatez ordered the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) to increase monitoring of known scam hotspots, fake websites, and suspicious online sellers.</p><p>The ACG has also deployed specialized “holiday cyber patrols” focused on tracking phishing attempts, fraudulent advertisements, and emerging threats circulating on social media and e-commerce platforms.</p><p>“Based on our monitoring, ang pinakakaraniwan ngayon ay online shopping scams, fake delivery parcels, phishing links, at mga impersonation schemes,” he noted.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2024/12/13/how-to-avoid-the-12-scams-of-christmas-1541">How to avoid the &#x27;12 scams of Christmas&#x27;</a></div><p>“May mga nagpapadala ng parcels na may bayad kahit hindi naman in-order, at marami ring nag-aalok ng sobrang gandang deals para malinlang ang publiko.,” he added.</p><p>Under the heightened campaign, the PNP is prioritizing entrapment operations against syndicates behind parcel-delivery scams, bogus online sellers, phishing networks, and SIM/OTP harvesting activities.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>TRANSNATIONAL?<br/></strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Nartatez revealed that cyber investigators are also mapping possible links between local fraud groups and foreign crime rings.</p><p>The PNP is also strengthening coordination with major courier companies, online marketplaces, and payment service providers.</p><p>The public is urged to report suspicious parcels or online accounts through the Unified 911 System for immediate verification.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/14/pnp-reports-over-140-000-911-calls-from-sept-to-early-november-1357">PNP records over 140,000 &#x27;911&#x27; calls from Sept. to early November</a></div><p>“Kung may parcel na dumating na hindi niyo naman in-order, red flag na agad ’yan. And if someone asks for your OTP or personal details, never click, never share. Legit companies will never ask for your passwords,” he warned.</p><p>“Huwag magpadalos-dalos sa sobrang gandang deals.
