Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News </span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Wednesday reaffirmed the Marcos administration’s commitment to pursue full accountability in the alleged flood control mess, vowing that all those found guilty of corruption “will be behind bars by 2026.”</p><p>Speaking before local executives at the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines (VMLP) 29th National Convention in Manila, Remulla said the government was determined to uphold integrity in public service as concerns over the misuse of public funds continued to surface.</p><p>“Makakaasa kayo na ang gobyerno ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ay hindi umaatras sa hamon na ang mali, nagkamali at nagnakaw, lahat sila makukulong nitong 2026,” he said.</p><p>Remulla said that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. remained firm in cracking down on irregularities linked to the alleged flood control project anomaly, adding that Filipinos deserve “honest service”.</p><p>“Now is the best time to be in local government. No matter what positions you have, we give it our all,” he added.</p><p>Calling for unity among vice mayors nationwide, Remulla emphasized that good governance begins at the local level.</p><p>He noted that local government units were at the frontline of public service, and honest leadership at the grassroots helps restore confidence in government institutions.</p><p>“Iisa lang ang pananaw natin: pagandahin ang ating bayan, ang ating lalawigan, ang ating bansa,” he said.</p><p>“Ito na ang pag asa ng ating bayan na magbago at makita na ang kanilang inihalal ay karapat-dapat.”</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>PNP: MANHUNT FOR 7 SUSPECTS ONGOING</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>In a separate statement, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said it remained confident about arresting the seven remaining suspects linked to the alleged misuse of flood control funds in Oriental Mindoro.</p><p>Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said police units nationwide have intensified operations to hold accountable all individuals involved in corruption that hampers public welfare.</p><p>“With the way the operations are being carried out, we in the PNP are confident that all the remaining accused in this case will be accounted for.
