Fredderick Vida, with Alcantara’s lawyer, Atty. Emil Joven, along with representatives from Landbank and the Bureau of Treasury were present during the presentation of the bundles of cash to the media.</p><p>“Kasi ito ay pagpapakita ng kanilang good faith kasi sinasabi di ba pag nag-state witness, Mr. DOJ narito po kami gusto naming tulungan ang gobyerno kasi nagsisisi na po kami, oh, sa sinasabi mong pagsisisi, meron ka bang kinita, opo, eh teka ibalik mo sa bayan, ito po ay isang hakbang para po makamit natin ang katarungan,” Vida said.</p><p>Vida said that the P110 million cash is just an initial amount as Alcantara is set to return a total of P300 million.</p><p>Vida also said that former DPWH undersecretary Roberto Bernardo has promised to return P7 million from his bank account currently frozen by the Anti-Money Laundering Council.</p><p>“Yung kay Engr. Bernardo, sa Memorandum of Agreement, meron siyang bank accounts na inassign niya sa Department of Justice,” Vida said.</p><p>Asked if other individuals such as contractor couple Curlee and Sarah Discaya are also set to return money to the government, Vida said the DOJ still has to receive word from the Discayas.</p><p>“Tulad ng nabanggit nakaraang dalawang linggo na sa Senado na sila ay magpapasailalim sa proseso na pwede ay mapasok sa programa patuloy naming pinag-aaralan, pero sa kasaluyan, wala kaming aktibong pakikipagugnayan sa mga Discaya,” Vida said.</p><p>Vida assured the public that amounts mentioned are just initial and the government has the upper hand during negotations with individuals on how much money they should return.</p><p>“Tayo po ang may hawak ng poder dito, tayo ang nagtatakda kung sila ay ma-aadmit sa programa, at ang dulong layunin nga po nito ay katarungan, tayo ang nawalan ng pera eh,” Vida said.</p><p>Meantime, DOJ spokesperson Atty Polo Martinez said three out of the five cases being investigated by a panel of prosecutors are submitted for resolution.</p><p>“The remaining two (2) are scheduled for another hearing on December 5, 2025 pending the further submission of counter-affidavits by the additional respondents,” Martinez said in a statement.</p><div><br/></div><div><br style="caret-color:rgb(0, 0, 0);color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"/></div><div><iframe width="727" height="409" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/VekDI3lUCds" title="ICYMI: Harapang sisihan nina Henry Alcantara at Brice Hernandez | ABS-CBN News" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe><br/></div>
