Jeff Caparas, ABS-CBN News</div><div> </div>MANILA — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) awarded a total of P16.1 million in cash rewards to 19 civilian informants under its &quot;Operation: Private Eye&quot; program.Seven of the informants personally received P2 million each during the awarding ceremony held at the PDEA national headquarters on Friday.Dangerous Drugs Board chairman Oscar Valenzuela thanked the informants for their courage and willingness to assist authorities.According to PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez, the recipients played crucial roles in 22 successful operations that led to the interception of large volumes of illegal drugs.Nerez emphasized that all informants who received rewards were fully qualified, having undergone evaluation by a committee composed of representatives from various sectors.Nerez also assured the safety of the informants and their families, saying they remain under continuous monitoring to protect them from possible retaliation by drug syndicates.&quot;Yan kasi, obligasyon po ng pulisya and other law enforcement agencies is to keep their informants safe at all times,” he said.Nerez said that PDEA is also monitoring how the informants will use the money to ensure it contributes positively to their reintegration and improved quality of life.“&#x27;Yun na po &#x27;yung laging tinatanong ng ating mga representative sa civil society sector. At ano ang gagawin mo diyan sa iyong pera? At i-emphasize na kailangan mayroon tayong mga religious representatives, dalawa-dalawa &#x27;yung bishop natin na pinapangaralan &#x27;yung ating &#x27;yung recipient na gawin ang tama lagi,” said Nerez.
