<p>MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. lamented the number of fatalities following the onslaught of Typhoon Tino that ravaged parts of Visayas, mainly Cebu and Negros. </p><p>The death toll has reached nearly 190.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/11/7/-very-intense-enormous-cyclone-uwan-to-affect-most-of-luzon-visayas-pagasa-1546">‘Very intense, enormous’ cyclone &#x27;Uwan&#x27; to affect most of Luzon, Visayas—PAGASA</a></div><p>He made the statement during his visit to the hardest-hit areas in Cebu following the situational briefing there with Cabinet secretaries and local government officials.</p><p>“But we are very, very sorry. Hindi ko… Siyempre lahat kami nalulungkot dahil napakataas ng ating casualty figures. At ito karamihan talaga ay dinala, dinala ng tubig. Pero ang talagang nangyari, flash flood naman. Iba ‘yung nangyari. At nakita natin na ‘yung mga nilagay dati na mga dike, mga protection ay hindi talaga kaya ‘yung bigat, ‘yung dami ng tubig na bumagsak,” he stated.</p><p>Marcos Jr. vowed to Cebuanos that the national government will not leave the province until the ravaged areas are fully rehabilitated.</p><p>“But anyway, nangyari na. We will be helping the families of those na naging casualty. We will help them to recover, put them back on their feet and do what we can to make up for the loss that they have suffered,” he promised.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/11/7/typhoon-tino-survivors-in-cebu-dig-beside-canals-for-water-as-aid-remains-scarce-1212">Typhoon Tino survivors in Cebu dig beside canals for water as aid remains scarce</a></div><p>Marcos Jr. added assured help from the national government including relief goods to evacuees, medical assistance to injured residents and P5,000 cash assistance each to families whose houses were partially damaged and P10,000 to those with completely damaged houses.</p><p>Marcos Jr. also bared a relocation plan for the displaced residents.</p><p>“Later on, patuloy naman ang tulong kasi mayroon tayong mga ire-relocate kasi marami sa naging biktima ay nasa no-build zone at nakapagpatayo sila ng bahay doon sa no-build zone,” he said.</p><p>“Kaya&#x27;t kailangan silang i-relocate. So, isa pa ‘yun ginagawa namin. Napag-usapan namin ng mga local government units dito sa Cebu, including the provinces, the municipalities and the cities, ay pinag-usapan namin kung papaano, saan natin ilalagay dahil umaasa kami sa LGU para makahanap ng lupa, paglalagyan ng mga ire-relocate,” Marcos Jr. noted.</p><p>The Department of Public Works and Highways has also dispatched its engineering teams to assess road and infrastructure damage, according to the president.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/11/7/wind-signal-raised-over-several-areas-as-cyclone-uwan-barrels-toward-luzon-1742">Wind signal raised over several areas as cyclone ‘Uwan’ barrels toward Luzon</a></div><p>“Ang Public Works, for example, nagpapaikot ng mga engineering team para tingnan ‘yung mga kalsada. Baka na-erode, baka kailangan nang ayusin, baka kailangan sarhan. Pero so far, mukha namang maayos,” he said.</p><p>“May mga dalawa, tatlo na kailangan tutukan, kailangan tingnan nang mabuti baka hindi na puwedeng gamitin dahil nasira na dahil sa baha. Iyong mga engineer namin ng Public Works ay papupuntahin na namin doon para inspeksyunin na nila lahat,” Marcos Jr. added.</p><p>As parts of Visayas continue to reel from the effects of Tino, the chief executive further urged local authorities to prepare for potential Super Typhoon Uwan.</p><p>“Nagbigay din ako ng warning sa ating mga local executives na may padating pa na bagyo. Ngayon, sa tingin namin, hindi naman yata dadaan dito sa Visayas pero mag-ingat pa rin lahat.
