Jam Sta.Rosa/AFP</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>MANILA<strong> (UPDATE) </strong>— The number of deaths caused by typhoon Tino has increased to 188, the Office of the Civil Defense said Friday morning.</p><p>Of the 188, 135 were from Cebu province, 24 from Negros Occidental, nine from Negros Oriental, six from Agusan Del Sur, three from Capiz, two from southern Leyte, and one each from Leyte, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras and Bohol.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/11/7/typhoon-tino-wipes-out-2-communities-along-mananga-river-in-talisay-city-cebu-0844">Typhoon Tino wipes out 2 communities along Mananga River in Talisay City, Cebu</a></div><p>While some are still for validation, the highest number of deaths was reportedly due to drowning and injuries from debris, OCD said. </p><p>Another 135 individuals were reported missing, said OCD, mostly from Cebu, Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.</p><p>“Yung tatlong probinsiya na ito, grabe ang flooding incidents na nangyari sa mga highly urbanized areas,” said Raffy Alejandro IV, OCD Deputy Administrator for Administration.</p><p>He said 96 are currently recorded as injured, but reports are still coming.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>DAMAGE</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Initial reports recorded a total of P6.3 million worth of infrastructure damage and P13.3 million of agricultural damage, he said. </p><p>Alejandro noted that in disasters as catastrophic as typhoon Tino, agricultural and infrastructure damages usually reach P300 million.</p><p>“We still need to get the reports on government infrastructure plus the private. That’s why medyo mahirap ito because maraming critical infrastructure or government infrastructure na tinamaan like health centers, mga barangay halls and other facilities,” he said.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/11/5/death-toll-due-to-tino-tops-100-as-philippines-digs-out-after-typhoon-2134">Death toll due to &#x27;Tino&#x27; tops 100 as Philippines digs out after typhoon</a></div><p>An estimate of 9,600 houses were partially and totally damaged based on initial reports, but they are still for validation, said Alejandro.</p><p>The deputy administrator said OCD has reached all areas affected by Tino, although some are still hard to reach due to debris.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>FUNDING</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>The OCD still has enough resources, said Alejandro, especially since it recently received replenishment of quick response funds.</p><p>Some P3 billion may also be used as replenishment until the agency receives a fresh budget next year, he said. This is aside from the P760 million the Malacañang released to aid local government units affected by the typhoon.  </p><p>But Alejandro admitted that the agency’s resources are currently spread thin due to the consecutive catastrophes brought by the series of earthquakes, Tino and the upcoming typhoon Uwan that will hit the northern Philippines.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/11/7/fung-wong-intensifies-into-severe-tropical-storm-0651">Fung-wong intensifies into severe tropical storm</a></div><p>“Ang challenge natin ngayon is sustainment because we are fighting so many fronts, katatapos lang ng earthquake and then itong typhoon. So our resources, medyo spread thinly but we have reserves naman from those unaffected regions that we can mobilize,” he said.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>UWAN PREPS</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>State weather bureau PAGASA said Uwan, which will enter the Philippine area of responsibility Friday night or Saturday morning, may reach the super typhoon category and prompt the hoisting of signal no. 5 in some areas.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/11/6/jtwc-potential-super-typhoon-uwan-to-reach-peak-intensity-off-bicol-1631">JTWC: Potential super typhoon Uwan may reach peak intensity off Bicol</a></div><p>Alejandro said OCD is preparing its units in the Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Bicol region, which will be most hit by Uwan based on the current projection.</p><p>“Right now, we are preparing all of our units, we are restocking our supplies and prepositioning relief goods and resources to the different regions para matulungan silang maghanda para sa pagdating nitong bagyong Uwan,” he said.</p><p>He advised local government units to employ preemptive evacuation and the public to prepare emergency kits containing at least three days worth of canned goods, batteries, flashlights, first-aid kits and go bag.  </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO:</strong></div><div style="text-align:center"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/gzIJDgwo_CU?si=mNPR1VKFb55dFc4J" title="YouTube video player" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe><br/></div>
