<p>MANILA — Malacañang on Sunday announced the suspension of government work in several regions on Monday, November 10 and classes until Tuesday, November 11 as Super Typhoon Uwan batters parts of Philippines.</p><p>In a memorandum circular released by the Office of the President on Sunday, November 9, government work is suspended on Monday in the following areas due to “forecasted major impacts” that will be brought about by Uwan:</p><ul style="list-style-type:circle"><li>National Capital Region </li><li>Cordillera Administrative Region </li><li>Region I (Ilocos Region) </li><li>Region II (Cagayan Valley) </li><li>Region III (Central Luzon) </li><li>Region IV-A (CALABARZON) </li><li>Region IV-B (MIMAROPA) </li><li>Region V (Bicol Region) </li><li>Region VIII (Eastern Visayas)</li></ul><div> </div><p>Classes at all levels in those regions, as well as in Region VI (Western Visayas), Region VII (Central Visayas) and the Negros Island Region are also suspended on Monday until Tuesday, November 11.</p><p>Agencies responsible for basic, vital and health services, preparedness and response duties must continue to remain operational, according to the memorandum circular signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin. </p><p>“To further ensure continuity of essential government functions, all other government agencies in the aforementioned Regions may implement alternate work arrangements, as may be necessary, subject to applicable laws, rules and regulations,” he added.</p><p>Bersamin also noted that localized cancellation or suspension of classes and/or work in government offices in other regions may be implemented by their respective local chief executives, pursuant to relevant laws, rules and regulations.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/11/9/-uwan-nears-super-typhoon-strength-as-it-approaches-catanduanes-0646"><strong>Signal No. 5 raised in several areas as &#x27;Uwan&#x27; intensifies to super typhoon</strong></a></div><p>The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has also suspended the implementation of the expanded number coding scheme on November 10.</p><p>The House of Representatives also suspended work, including its plenary session, on November 10 due to the expected bad weather brought by Super Typhoon Uwan.</p><p>&quot;In view of the anticipated inclement weather conditions due to Typhoon Uwan, work in the House of Representatives, including the plenary session, is hereby suspended on Monday, November 10,&quot; House Secretary General Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil said Sunday.</p><p>&quot;Offices performing essential functions are expected to ensure the continued delivery of critical services,&quot; Garafil said, adding that the legislative chamber is committed to safeguarding the safety of its employees.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO:</strong></div><div style="text-align:center"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8xu5swQG1DM?si=yggRcTb9EviB6Jmx" title="YouTube video player" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div>
