Philip Fong, AFP" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Flowers are seen outside the Wang Fuk Court (back) in the aftermath of the deadly November 26 fire in Hong Kong&#x27;s Tai Po district on November 29, 2025. <em>Philip Fong, AFP</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA -- Eighty-four Filipinos have been accounted for and declared safe after the massive blaze that razed a housing complex in Tai Po district, Hong Kong last week, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said on Monday. </p><p>Philippine authorities are still trying to locate four more Filipinos.</p><p>At least 146 people have been reported dead in the fire at Wang Fuk Court.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/world/2025/11/30/hong-kong-in-mourning-as-fire-death-toll-climbs-to-146-2239">READ: Hong Kong in mourning as fire death toll climbs to 146</a></div><p>&quot;We are still trying to account for, I think, 3 or 4 more,&quot; said DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac.</p><p>&quot;I always emphasize they were not necessarily in the premises, in the towers, during the fire,&quot; he added. &quot;Some of those whom we marked safe actually had gone home. It&#x27;s just that nasa database natin, yun pa rin ang address nila 2 years ago, or 1 year ago.&quot;</p><p>&quot;We are hoping of course that we will account for everybody,&quot; Cacdac also said. &quot;As we account for them, let&#x27;s say marked safe na yung tao, bibigyan pa namin ng basic needs assistance. Kasi malamang sa malamang nasunugan sila ng mga belongings.&quot;</p><p>One Filipina, identified as Maryan Pascual Esteban, was confirmed dead. She is a single parent with a 10 year old son in Cainta, Rizal.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/30/1-ofw-confirmed-dead-after-hong-kong-fire-ph-consulate-general-0914">READ: 1 OFW confirmed dead after Hong Kong fire — PH consulate</a></div><p>Both Cacdac and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan visited her family to assure them of the government&#x27;s full support.</p><p>&quot;Yung namatay nating kababayan is an active OWWA member, was an active OWWA member. So ibibigay po natin kaagad-agad yung mga benepisyo bilang active OWWA member. Of course yung burial benefits, death benefits. But ang importante, pati yung educational assistance sa naiwan niyang anak until kolehiyo,&quot; Caunan said.</p><p>Cacdac and Caunan will also fly to Hong Kong on Tuesday to personally facilitate the repatriation of Esteban&#x27;s remains. They will also assess the needs of affected Filipinos currently in shelters, as well as one survivor who remains  under intensive care.</p><p>Rhodora Alcaraz, a newly-arrived domestic worker, has earned praise after saving her employer&#x27;s baby during the fire.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/world/2025/12/1/filipino-domestic-worker-praised-for-saving-baby-in-hong-kong-blaze-0108">READ: Filipino domestic worker praised for saving baby in Hong Kong blaze</a></div><p>She was found by firefighters still cradling her employer&#x27;s 3-month old baby against her body to shield the infant from the flames and fumes. Cacdac confirmed that she remains in the ICU, but is now recovering.</p><p>The DMW chief also underscored the bravery and heroism of all affected OFWs.</p><p>&quot;They were all with their respective employers and in many cases, taking care of the children of their employers. Itong ating OFW na nasawi was actually taking care of the 5 year old daughter of her employer at the time,&quot; he said.</p><p>&quot;Sila ay mga bagong bayani na nag-perform pa ng yet another significant act of heroism.
