MANILA -- Senator Imee Marcos on Sunday accused Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon of holding the bicameral conference committee on the 2026 budget hostage.This, following his request not to reduce the DPWH budget after he admitted that the cost of construction materials in the budget was overpriced.Dizon had been requesting the Senate to reverse the cuts it made based on the findings of overprice to avoid having projects that are unimplementable.The secretary preferred for the agency -- and not the Senate through the bill -- to implement the lower costs of construction materials since the prices of construction materials all over the country are not uniform.&quot;I truly resent the fact that the bicam is being hostaged by the Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways,&quot; Marcos said.&quot;At kung  tunay na wala kayong tiwala sa sino mang district engineer, hindi po  ako abogado ng Public Works. Dapat tanggalin na lang ninyo lahat kasi pinapadagdagan mo &#x27;yung budget tapos yung mga mag-i-implement, wala kang tiwala, ano naman kami?&quot;Dizon responded that the agency is &quot;doing the best we can given the current situation,&quot; while stressing that they cannot stop working.&quot;Hindi kita pinahihinto sa trabaho.
