MANILA — A 52-year-old male teacher was arrested by the Manila Police District after allegedly forcing a Grade 7 student to eat a cockroach and threatening the child&#x27;s life.The police served the warrant of arrest against the teacher at a school in Tondo, Manila on Friday afternoon, December 12.Based on the investigation, the victim is a 12-year-old male Grade 7 student.According to the victim&#x27;s statement to authorities, the incident happened on October 15, when he allegedly saw the suspect molesting another female student inside the school.Manila Police District spokesperson PMaj. Philipp Ines said the teacher threatened the student after realizing he had been seen.&quot;Pinagbantaan siyang papatayin, at according din sa kanya, pinakain siya ng ipis,” said Ines.(The teacher threatened to kill him and, accordign to the student, forced him to eat a cockroach)ABS-CBN News spoke with the victim&#x27;s mother, who declined to appear on camera.She said her son witnessed the alleged molestation inside the classroom. When the suspect allegedly noticed the child, he chased him and brought him inside a bathroom.Inside the bathroom, the suspect allegedly threatened the victim and forced him to eat a dead cockroach.ABS-CBN News went to the school where the incident allegedly happened.<div> </div><div>ADMINISTRATIVE CASE ALSO FILED AGAINST TEACHER</div>The school administration refused to appear on camera but said an investigation related to the incident is already underway.According to lawyer Liezel Villanueva, the legal officer of Schools Division Office-Manila, an administrative case has already been filed against the teacher and the hearing on the case is ongoing.Authorities are also working to determine the identity of the female student whom the teacher allegedly molested. No formal complaint has been filed over the alleged incident.PMaj. Ines said investigators are also checking for possible negligence inside the school.&quot;Tinitingnan &#x27;yan at depende &#x27;yan doon sa magiging resulta ng pag-limbestiga kung magkakaroon ng formal investigation,&quot; Ines added.(We are looking at that and may launch a formal investigation)Meanwhile, the suspect was released on Tuesday, December 16, after posting bail of P120,000.He is facing a complaint for violation of Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.If found guilty, the teacher may be dismissed from service.The 12-year-old victim is currently undergoing psychological intervention from the Department of Social Welfare and Development due to the trauma caused by the incident.
