Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA – Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday promised to continue fighting corruption and “greed,” as she highlighted the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) achievements and milestones for this year.</p><p>Duterte, in her year-end report, said thousands of Filipinos benefited in the various forms of assistance and programs of her office despite its limited budget.</p><p>The Office of the Vice President operated on a P733-million budget this year, after Congress questioned its use of confidential funds. </p><p>Duterte said the unmodified opinion that the OVP secured from the Commission on Audit was a “clear indication” of the office’s “transparency at fiscal integrity.” </p><p>An unmodified opinion is issued when an auditor “concludes that the financial statements are prepared, in all material respects, in accordance with the applicable financial reporting framework,” the COA said in its website.</p><p>“Patuloy tayong lalaban sa kasakiman ng mga iilang mataas na opisyal ng ating pamahalaan,” said the Vice President.</p><p>When reporters asked Duterte in August to explain the alleged misuse of confidential funds, she said her camp would explain these <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/8/11/vp-sara-to-explain-in-proper-forum-allegations-vs-confidential-funds-as-senate-archives-case-">“in the proper forum.”</a></p><p>&quot;Kung may kaso, sa tamang forum mag-eexplain kami,&quot; she had said in Davao City. </p><p>&quot;Doon sa mga tamang forum at tamang venue, nagbibigay kami ng saktong sagot at nagbibigay kami... ng explanation ng mga accusations,&quot; she added.</p><p>The alleged fund misuse of the OVP and Department of Education when it was still headed by Duterte was one of the seven articles of impeachment against her. </p><p>The Senate in August<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/8/6/senators-voting-on-marcoleta-motion-to-archive-sara-duterte-impeachment-1906"> voted to archive the impeachment complaint </a>against Duterte after the Supreme Court said it violated a constitutional provision against multiple impeachment proceedings within a single year.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/8/7/who-is-mary-grace-piattos-questions-linger-as-senate-archives-impeachment-vs-sara-duterte-0923">Who is Mary Grace Piattos? Questions linger as Senate archives impeachment vs Sara Duterte</a></div><p>Duterte, in her over 7-minute report, said her office would continue to implement projects properly and combat corruption.</p><p>“Patuloy naming na ipapakita  sa inyo ng aming Tanggapan na mahalaga ang pagkakaroon ng plano, mahusay na implementasyon ng proyekto, paglaban sa korapsyon, at tapang at malasakit para magkaroon ng kaunlaran sa ating bayan,” she said. </p><p>Duterte said the public’s cooperation for this endeavor was “critical” to successfully deliver timely, efficient, and meaningful public service despite the “challenges.” </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>MEDICAL AND BURIAL ASSISTANCE </strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Duterte said her office faced a “huge challenge” when a large chunk of their budget for social services was cut this year. </p><p>“Nakipagtulungan kami sa mga ahensiya ng gobyerno at nagtagumpay na makakuha ng alternatibong pondo. Dahil dito, nanatiling bukas ang ating assistance windows,” said the Vice President.</p><p>She said 4,643 Filipinos received medical assistance from her office, while there were 1,377 beneficiaries for their burial assistance.  </p><p>She said the OVP provided disaster aid to 73,054 families. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>SUPPORT FOR ENTREPRENEURS, COMMUTERS</strong></div><div><strong> </strong></div><p>Duterte said her office also extended help to entrepreneurs and commuters through her Mag Negosyo Ta &#x27;Day, a livelihood program, and Libreng Sakay. </p><p>Under Mag Negosyo Ta &#x27;Day, she said the OVP supported 15 groups and 2,245 aspiring entrepreneurs this 2025. </p><p>Their free bus rides – which now covers Tacloban City – served around 875,000 commuters across the Philippines from January to October.</p><p>“Ito ang pruweba na kung may puso at paninindigan para maglingkod, laging may paraan para tulungan ang ating mga kababayan,” Duterte said. </p><p>Last week, the Senate ended plenary deliberations on the 2026 budget of the Office of the Vice President with no questions asked.</p><p>The OVP budget was restored to its P889-million National Expenditure Program level.
