Police cite possible emotional, financial distress in missing bride-to-be

<p>MANILA - The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said initial findings from a digital forensic examination suggest that missing bride-to-be Sherra De Juan may have been experiencing emotional and financial distress prior to her disappearance, a claim strongly denied by her fiancé. </p><p>According to QCPD District Director Police Colonel Randy Glenn Silvio, the assessment was based on the initial review of data recovered from the victim’s electronic devices.</p><p>“Based on the digital forensic examination, it appears that Ms. Sherra is facing emotional distress and financial problems due to her father’s medical condition and financial problems for her forthcoming wedding,” Silvio said during a press briefing. </p><p>Police said the examination revealed messages indicating concerns over her father’s medical condition and finances related to her upcoming wedding. Authorities emphasized that the findings are still part of an ongoing investigation and that all possible angles are being considered.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/12/19/10-days-missing-qcpd-hopeful-bride-to-be-still-alive-1410"><strong>10 days missing: Police hopeful bride-to-be still alive </strong></a> </div><p>Silvio also noted that investigators found sensitive online searches conducted prior to De Juan’s disappearance. “It’s revealed that prior to her disappearance, she had conducted online searches on medication. The QCPD treats this case with utmost seriousness and sensitivity,” he said.</p><p>De Juan was reported missing on December 10 after she told her fiancé she would step out briefly to buy shoes for their wedding scheduled on December 14. She has not been seen since.</p><p>Despite the police findings, De Juan’s fiancé, Mark Arjay Reyes, refuted claims that she was under financial or emotional strain. </p><p>“Yung sa father niya po, Ma’am, lahat po ’yun covered po ng HMO niya… wala kaming gastos diyan ni piso,” Reyes said. He added that wedding expenses were already settled, saying, “Sobra-sobra po kami ng budget sa kasal.
