Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News </span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><div><br/></div><p>MANILA – Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial may start after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) in July this year, Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero said on Monday.</p><p>In a press conference, Escudero said the trial might start during the 20th Congress.</p><p>“Most likely when the new Congress already enters into its function. That means after the SONA. SONA, I think, is on July 21. So the trial will commence after that date,” Escudero said. </p><p>He said senators “have a lot to do” even before they start to convene as an impeachment court. </p><p>“Ang unang-unang gagawin pagkatapos ng rules, magpapadala ng summons ang nasasakdal. Sampung araw para sumagot kung hindi siya hihingi ng extension, kung humingi ng extension malamang pagbibigyan naman yun ng isa,” he said.</p><p>“Pagkatapos nun, 10 araw din para magsumite ng reply. Baka humingi ng extension, pagkatapos nun baka humingi ang nasasakdal na magsumite ng rejoinder.
