MANILA — Former senator Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan II called for unity to address problems plaguing the country.

During ABS-CBN’s Harapan 2025, Honasan said the biggest issue Filipinos face today is division.

“Pagkawatak-watak. Halimbawa, pro-China, anti-China, pro-US, anti-US… Bihira kong marinig yung pro-Pilipino. Parang nakakaligtaan, nakakalimutan yung public interest.

Honasan is running for another term in the Senate.

“Ang panawagan ko, ang aking panalangin ay together na magkakasama, one flag, one nation, one people, together mangarap tayo,” he remarked. “Manampalataya tayo. Magdasal tayo.”

Last year, he called for a ceasefire between the Marcos and Duterte camps in light of accusations of drug use between the two.

Asked how he will put an end to the feuding if he becomes Senator, Honasan said, “An organism, unless confronted with a formidable threat, talaga pag may banta na mabigat, we'll fight each other. Maglalaban sila.

Honasan added that he is not perfect but reiterated his dedication to the Filipino people.
