<p>The Philippine government followed due process  in serving the International Criminal Court warrant to former president Rodrigo Duterte upon his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport last Tuesday, a justice official said.</p><p>This included the reading of his Miranda rights and explanation of why he has being arrested, Justice Undersecretary Nicholas Felix Ty said.</p><div><script data-wid="auto" type="text/javascript" src="https://content.viralize.tv/display/?zid=AAEyze-tm4MR6kEa&amp;cid=ABVaRhZ4uj4KcqW9"></script></div><p>“Ibinigay talaga ang lahat ng palugit kay President Duterte at sa kanyang mga kasamahan. Ginalang namin ang kanyang lahat ng Karapatan bilang dating pangulo. Sa dulo, tahimik at tinanggap ang kalagayan na dapat talagang maipatupad ang warrant of arrest at maisakay siya sa eroplano papunta sa The Hague,” he said in a TeleRadyo Serbisyo interview.</p><p>“Hindi pinwersa, hindi namin kinalimutan na siya ang dating pangulo, may edad na. Sinigurado namin na tahimik at marahan ang proseso.”</p><p>“Hindi defiant ang dating pangulo. May mga abogado siya na ipinaglaban nila ang posisyon nila. Marami silang hiniling pero si President Duterte tahimik lang siya, tanggap niya ang pangyayari.”</p><p>He rejected Vice President Sara Duterte’s claim that the arrest was a form of “state kidnapping.”</p><p>He added Duterte can seek legal remedy with the ICC in The Hague after the court took jurisdiction of the former president. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/world/2025/3/11/catching-the-worlds-most-wanted-the-icc-s-impossible-task-1750">Catching the world&#x27;s most wanted: The ICC&#x27;s impossible task</a></div><div><br/></div><p>The ICC, based in The Hague, has said that there were &quot;reasonable grounds&quot; to believe Duterte committed the crime against humanity of murder as an &quot;indirect co-perpetrator&quot; during the anti-drug campaign that rights groups estimate killed tens of thousands of people.</p><p>ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan said Duterte’s arrest is an important moment for alleged victims of his &quot;war on drugs.”</p><div><script data-wid="auto" type="text/javascript" src="https://content.viralize.tv/display/?zid=AAEyze-tm4MR6kEa&amp;cid=ABVeaPLHv7lY0BvP"></script></div>
