MANILA -- President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday said that he is willing to reconcile with the Duterte family, noting that he wants to get along with everyone.

The President made the statement after he was asked in the first episode of his podcast if he wanted to make amends with the Duterte family.

"Oo. Ayoko ng gulo. Gusto ko makasundo sa lahat ng tao. Mas maganda. Marami na akong kaaway. Hindi ko kailangan ng kaaway, kailangan ko kaibigan," Marcos Jr. said.

"Ewan ko. Hangga't maaari, ang habol ko yung stability, peaceful, para magawa namin ang trabaho namin. Lagi akong bukas sa ganiyan. I'm always open to any approach," he said.

"Halika, magtulungan tayo. Kahit na hindi tayo magkasundo sa polisiya, hindi tayo magkasundo, tanggalin natin ang gulo," he added.

Marcos Jr.'s relationship with the Duterte family soured in early 2024 after former President Rodrigo Duterte and his son Davao Mayor Sebastian Duterte accused him of being a weak leader, who is allegedly addicted to cocaine.

In mid-2024, Vice President Sara Duterte resigned from Marcos Jr.'s Cabinet, and eventually slammed her former running mate and his allies for alleged irregularities in the administration.

The rift further deepened after the House of Representatives — led by Marcos Jr.'s cousin Ferdinand Martin Romualdez — investigated the Office of the Vice President's confidential funds, and eventually voted to impeach her as second-in-command.

In March 2025, the administration allowed the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte and hauled him to the Netherlands where he is facing crimes against humanity charges before the ICC.

Vice President Duterte has repeatedly blamed Marcos Jr. and his administration for her father's arrest, underscoring that this had no legal basis as the Philippines has already pulled out from the Rome Statute in 2019.
