MANILA – Two representatives-elect shared their take on the Commission on Elections' announcement that it will no longer allow party-lists to use names related to television shows or government assistance "ayuda" programs for the next elections. 

Several winning party-lists in the 2025 midterm elections include television shows and "ayuda" programs.

Among them is the Pagtibayin at Palaguin ang Pangkabuhayang Pilipino, more commonly known as the 4Ps Party-list.

The group ranked fourth in the Comelec's final tally, giving them two congressional seats in the 20th Congress.  

4Ps incumbent representative and representative-elect Marcelino Libanan shared his take on the matter.

"Alam niyo yung 4Ps, isang common na term sa marketing, diba? Product, price, promotion, and basta 4Ps. Yun ang ginaya ng DSWD. Kami pinakamadaling Pagtibayin at Palaguin ang Pangkabuhayang Pilipino," he said. 

Another winning group is FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list, whose first nominee is Brian Poe Llamanzares, the son of Senator Grace Poe and grandson of the late actor and filmmaker Fernando Poe Jr., or FPJ.  

"Para sa akin naman, it's up to Comelec what they decide to do. Ang importante para sa akin ang mga party-list continue to represent the marginalized groups," Llamanzares said.  

"Kami po sa FPJ Panday Bayanihan, kahit FPJ ang pangalan natin, pro poor party-list po tayo. At siyempre food, progress and justice ang adbokasiya namin," he added.

Llamanzares hopes there will be more party-lists that will truly represent the marginalized sector.

Comelec earlier said they cannot act against accredited party-lists using television shows or assistance programs. But it said those who will apply for accreditation must change the name of their party in line with their principles and advocacies.

Comelec Chairman George Garcia said it is not proper nor right for party-list groups to use popular television shows and "ayuda" programs in their names.
