MANILA (UPDATE) — The Commission on Elections First Division has dismissed the disqualification petition filed against the Bagong Henerasyon party-list on Thursday, May 22.

The poll body said the petitioner, lawyer Russel Stanley Geronimo, failed to comply with the mandatory requirements in filing petitions.

This includes the affidavit stating the reason why personal service was not feasible, or why BH refused to receive the petition, or that BH’s whereabouts cannot be determined, and the Certificate of Nomination-Certificate of Acceptance of Nomination.

The petitioner filed the disqualification petition against the party-list, its first nominee Roberto Gerard Lopez Nazal Jr., and fifth nominee Maria Editha Tan Alcantara.

The petition’s dismissal means that the party-list’s suspension of proclamation of winning will be lifted.

'THIS IS YOUR VICTORY'

In a statement, Bagong Henerasyon party-list said it appreciated Comelec's role in "safeguarding the sanctity of our elections."

"This moment is a testament to the strength of our democratic institutions — that they can be questioned, and yet remain firm, fair, and faithful to the rule of law," the party-list said.

The group also thanked their supporters and vowed to work for them in the upcoming Congress.

"To our supporters: this is your victory. To the silent, the striving, the unseen: you were never forgotten... To you, we dedicate this mandate," it said.

BH won a single House seat in the 2025 national elections with 319,803 votes, or 0.76 percent of the total.

The party-list also earned a seat in the House each election year since 2010, except in 2013.

Meanwhile, Comelec remains undecided on the disqualification petition against Duterte Youth party-list, of which proclamation of winning was also suspended.
