Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News/File </span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Pulse Asia Research pointed out that both the Marcos and Duterte political machineries struggled to impact public opinion in #Halalan 2025.</p><p>The research body said in its latest press release that the votes for the Marcos camp notably dropped in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and its strongholds in Ilocos Region and Eastern Visayas, showing that its machinery failed to mobilize voter support. </p><p>Meanwhile, the Duterte-aligned &quot;opposition&quot; saw a diminished performance in Mindanao.</p><p>Pulse Asia said that the survey results reflected the winning possibility of all the election winners.</p><p>Eight of the winners were already expected as they topped Pulse Asia&#x27;s May survey. </p><p>Meanwhile, the survey body found that several candidates—mostly independents and those affiliated with progressive groups—received higher actual votes than their pre-election survey standings.</p><p>Candidates like Bam Aquino, who ranked second in the actual election results, performed similarly to non-winners in the surveys. </p><p>In Pulse Asia&#x27;s May survey, for instance, Aquino was favored by 32.8 percent of the respondents, closely similar to Bong Revilla with 32.3 percent.</p><p>&quot;These small differences are even more pronounced in the case of the lower-ranked candidates,&quot; said Pulse Asia.</p><p>But it also said that a comparison of the vote shares from the survey results in April and May, and the actual election results revealed that voter preferences shifted markedly over time, particularly as election day approached.</p><p>Aside from Aquino, other unexpected election winners—Kiko Pangilinan, Rodante Marcoleta, Erwin Tulfo and Lito Lapid—were already showing a positive trajectory in the pre-election surveys.</p><p>The Pulse Asia data also showed a region&#x27;s preference over time, compared to the actual election results.</p><p>&quot;From these trends, it appears that the political machinery of both the Marcos administration and the Duterte opposition struggled to sustain or expand support for their respective candidates,&quot; it said.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/5/13/pulse-asia-explains-difference-between-last-survey-vs-election-results-1122">Pulse Asia explains difference between last survey vs election results</a></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO:</strong></div><div style="text-align:center"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_h40wGWVSQI?si=d3I3kCSoAylA7av1" title="YouTube video player" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe><br/></div>
