MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Committee on Kontra Bigay (CKB) has issued show cause orders (SCO) against Laguna 2nd District congressional candidate Ramil Hernandez and his wife Laguna gubernatorial bet Ruth Mariano Hernandez over an alleged vote-buying and abuse of state resources issue.

The SCOs dated May 5, 2025 was signed by CKB head Atty. Teopisto Elnas Jr., and was given to members of the media on Tuesday, May 6.

It was alleged that the Hernandez couple instructed several individuals to proceed to a certain office where health cards and yellow papers would be distributed to them that they need to present to receive P2,000.

The couple was given by the CKB a non-extendible period of 3-days from receipt of the order to explain their side.

Also on Tuesday, CKB asked Marikina Mayor and congressional candidate Marcy Teodoro and his wife mayoral bet Maan to explain allegations of vote-buying and abuse of state resources.

In separate SCOs, the Task Force SAFE sought explanations from Caloocan congressional bet Edgar "Egay" Erice, Nueva Ecija 5th District congressional bet Mario Salvador, and Barbaza Antique mayoral candidate Faith Francisco.

"In view of the foregoing and pursuant to Section 9 of Resolution No. 11127, you are hereby ordered to Show Cause in writing within a non-extendible period of three days from receipt hereof, and to explain why a complaint for election offense and/or a petition for disqualification should not be filed against you," said the Comelec - Task Force SAFE.
