It is for the same reason that the Chinese Communist Party and their agents in the maritime domain—the PLA Navy, the CCG and the maritime militia—should leave the maritime zones of the Philippines. They are the foreign power interfering in the West Philippine Sea,” Trinidad said in a press briefing at Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City.</p><p>The official was reacting to the Chinese Embassy in Manila’s June 5 statement, calling on the Philippines to not “bring in external forces in the South China Sea disputes” and to “return to the right path of managing differences through dialogue and consultation with China.”</p><p>The embassy issued the statement after Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo and European Union (EU) foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas reaffirmed growing collaboration.</p><p>In a joint press release on Thursday, the two reaffirmed their commitment to “respect freedom of navigation and overflight as provided for in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS)” and expressed concerns on Beijing’s aggressive interference and measures in the West Philippine Sea.</p><p>Trinidad noted that China’s illegal presence, coercive and aggressive actions, and deceptive messaging &quot;have been the cause of all the turmoil” in the said waters.</p><p>“As our Secretary of National Defense mentioned, they have not received any support from any country of their actions in the West Philippine Sea,” Trinidad said.</p><p>“Your AFP will keep performing its mandate. Not only us, but with the support of other like-minded nations.
