Vice President Sara Duterte said she has no hard feelings toward President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. after the breakup of the UniTeam and the impeachment case filed against her by the House of Representatives.

This was her response when asked about the president’s earlier remark expressing openness to reconcile with the Dutertes.

“I have no ill feelings with him with regard to the political persecution that I am receiving from the administration because that is part of the life of a politician,” she said in an interview on the sidelines of a rally calling for the release of her father, ex-President Rodrigo Duterte, in Melbourne, Australia, on June 22.

What she has a problem with, according to the vice president, is Marcos Jr.’s ‘performance as president.’

“I have problems with his performance as president and I have problems with the violations of our fundamental law, our Constitution, particularly with the rendition of former president Duterte. That was really an affront to Philippine sovereignty,” she said.

Duterte also noted that she has not received any request from the president for a meeting in an effort to reconcile.

‘GOOD FOR HIM’

When asked about Marcos Jr. maintaining that he will not intervene with her impeachment trial, Duterte expressed doubt as she alleged the president is not true to his word.

“He gives conflicting statements, truly. The very first day of this administration. In fact, he has not followed through with any of his campaign promises,” she claimed.

“And that is an example of the conflict with regard to our president. Well, budol in English is 'scam' no? Well, we are not surprised. He has the hallmark of a scammer,” Duterte added.

Marcos Jr., in his latest podcast episode, said he is focusing on addressing problems with transport and rice and not on Duterte’s impeachment, emphasizing that it is a process between both chambers of Congress.

“Well, good for him. And we hope to see some sort of truth to his statements that he is focusing on helping our fellow Filipinos and doing something for the country. Unfortunately, if you talk to the ordinary citizens and the Filipino community, we don’t see anything at all,” the vice president stated.
