MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has instructed the Department of Transportation to demolish the "Mt. Kamuning Footbridge" — called that because of its steep incline — in Quezon City and replace it with one that is more accessible.

(I think the President's sentiment is that this is not how we should treat road users and commuters)

He said that Marcos Jr. told him "to tear it down and build a better one."

The Kamuning footbridge has been the subject of jokes and memes because of the effort commuters need to put in to climb and cross it.

(The President gave clear orders to make our facilities mote convenient to pedestrians and commuters. And that is what we will do. We will make sure that the overpass to replace it will be more convenient to use)

Dizon said the DOTr plans to put up a lower footbridge that would have elevators and would be connected to the GMA-Kamuning EDSA Busway Station for easier access.
