QUEZON CITY — Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said that the transactions previously entered into by then-Bamban Mayor Alice Guo remain legally presumed to be valid, as they occurred prior to her disqualification from office.

In an ambush interview in Culiat High School, where Remulla turned over fire extinguishers, the secretary was asked about the implications of Guo’s Chinese citizenship and the legitimacy of her previous transactions in light of recent developments.

“Ah, wala naman. At that time kasi hindi pa siya disqualified eh. So it was done in… There was a presumption of good faith nung panahon na ’yon dahil hindi pa siya na-convict. Ngayon lang siya dineclare na ineligible so ngayon wala na,” said Remulla.

Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 34 earlier ousted dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo from her post through the granting of an instant petition for quo warranto.
