MANILA — House spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante asked on Tuesday why Senate President Francis Escudero appears to be “raising his eyebrows” at the lower chamber whenever a criticism is thrown at him.She issued the statement after Escudero tagged as a mere “demolition job” traced to the House of Representatives allegations that he made multi-billion peso insertions in the proposed 2025 national budget.Abante said Escudero should just directly answer the issue.“Bakit kami? Bakit kami ang may kasalanan? Ang tanong ay tinatanong kay Senate President Chiz. Bakit po sa amin po ibinabato ang tanong? Bakit ‘pag may mga criticism sa kanya ay tinataasan niya ng kilay ang House of Representatives? Siguro mas mainam na sagutin na lang po ‘yung tanong,” she told the media.“Ako personally hindi ko alam ‘yung tungkol doon sa CCTV. I&#x27;m not part of the House at that time. I cannot comment on the CCTV issue. Siguro ‘yung tanong, bakit nga siya nandito? Kung tungkol ‘yan sa bicam, kasi ang Speaker hindi naman po nakialam sa bicam ng budget,” Abante added, referring to a reported CCTV footage showing Escudero at the lower chamber during the 2025 budget deliberations.Escudero said his visit was to ensure that the work of the bicam staff is proceeding without problems, and that “insinuation” of wrong doing is “wrought with malice”.
