Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Murder and serious illegal detention complaints have been filed at the Department of Justice (DOJ) against businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang and others in relation to the missing sabungeros case, according to a relative of one of the victims.</p><p>“Syempre masayang masaya po dahil four years naming inantay ito,” said Ryan Bautista, brother of missing sabungero Michael Bautista.</p><p>Bautista was at the DOJ along with officials of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of the Philippine National Police.</p><p>PNP chief General Nicolas Torre III also arrived at the DOJ minutes after Bautista’s arrival.</p><p>“No statement on missing sabungeros, si SOJ iyan,” Torre said.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/7/3/atong-ang-hints-at-extortion-in-missing-sabungeros-case-puno-t-dulo-nito-pera-1108">Atong Ang hints at extortion in &#x27;missing sabungeros&#x27; case: &#x27;Puno’t dulo nito pera&#x27;</a></div><p>Ang earlier denied the accusations. He had accused the whistleblowers who tagged him in the case, Julie &quot;Dondon&quot; Patidongan and Alan Bantiles, of coercion and slander. </p><p>Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said the complaints against Ang would undergo evaluation.</p><p>But the official noted that Ang was Patidongan’s former boss in the cockfighting industry, as <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/8/1/patidongan-brods-affidavits-to-strengthen-raps-vs-missing-sabungero-masterminds-pnp-1149">testified to by the whistleblower&#x27;s brothers.</a></p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/7/31/2-brothers-of-missing-sabungeros-whistleblower-totoy-arrested-pnp-1111">‘Missing links’ in sabungeros case: Whistleblower&#x27;s brothers arrested – PNP</a></div><p>&quot;Siya ang main player diyan, siya ang amo ni Totoy, ni Dondon.
