Rey Baniquet, PNA/File </span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan still enjoys President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s trust, a Malacañang official said on Tuesday, a day after the Chief Executive presented to the public seeming irregularities in the awarding of nearly 10,000 flood control projects in the last 3 years.</p><p>Marcos joined Bonoan in the inspection of several projects in Marikina City right after he told reporters about the initial findings of the Palace’s review on anti-flood programs under the DPWH.</p><p>“Nananatili pa din po ang tiwala kay Sec. Bonoan,” Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said when asked about the DPWH chief’s status amid the ongoing review.</p><p>“Hindi naman po siya kasama sa pag-iimbestiga, pero yung mga records manggagaling sa DPWH,” she said.</p><p>The President earlier described the initial assessment of flood control projects in the past three years as “disturbing” after data showed that only<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/8/11/15-contractors-cornered-p100-b-worth-of-flood-control-projects-since-2022-marcos-1053"> 15 contractors cornered over P100-billion worth of projects</a> from July 2022 to May 2025.</p><p>Records showed that of the nearly 10,000 flood control projects, around 6,000 lacked project specifications, while several others had a uniform price tag despite disparities in their location and terrain.  </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/8/11/marcos-launches-website-to-seek-public-help-in-auditing-flood-control-projects-0923">&#x27;Sumbong sa Pangulo&#x27;: Marcos launches website to seek public help in auditing flood control projects</a></div><p>Castro noted that a panel from the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) has been tasked to review these flood control projects.</p><p>“Ang magiging basehan nito kung existing ba yung project, operational ba, kung effective… kung epektibo ba sa pagkontrol ng baha,” she said.</p><p>“Yung timeline wala tayong pag-uusapan dahil the sooner the better… Hindi po ito tutulugan ng Pangulo.
